If the Disrict needs to move staff and students to only D33 Online Learning Academy this is called  "Adaptive Pause" by the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH). Adaptive Pause is a strategy that allows for movement into any level of remote learning to prevent disease transmission during a pandemic. An Adaptive Pause may also include a pivot to remote learning for a classroom, a grade level, a wing, a building or school, or district wide remote learning.

The decisions to move to Adaptive Pause should be made locally, in collaboration with local health officials, who can help determine the level of transmission in the community, and in conformity with ISBE/IDPH Joint Guidance. This IDPH guidance is consistent with the September 15, 2020 guidance released from CDC on Indicators for Dynamic School Decision-Making. The CDC’s guidance also encourages schools to self-assess implementation of key mitigation strategies as part of the decision-making process.

District 33 will move into an Adaptive Pause (Full Online Learning Academy) when one or more is occurring in a building or classroom:

• One or more D33 Building Operational Targets changes to “NO”  (see table below)
• The DCHD is concerned that spread is happening within a D33 classroom or school (based on district data related to illness)
• The Governor moves the State, Region or County to Phase 3 and declares schools closed
• Unforeseen circumstances or a combination of factors arise that may create an unsafe school environment

District 33 Operational Targets

The district is in daily contact with the Dupage County Health Department and consults with them related to any confirmed cases and to conduct contact tracing.
